内容提要:
A celebrated pianist and composer whose studies and sonatas did much to develop the techniques of the modern pianoforte, Muzio Clementi (1752-1832) was, during his Italian boyhood, an uncommonly precocious musician. He won an organist's position when he was only 9 and at 12 had an oratorio performed in Rome. Two years later, an admirer brought him to England to study, and at 25 he became the conductor of the Italian Opera in London. Thereafter, Clementi divided his time among conducting, concert touring, teaching, composing, and pursuing businesses in music publishing and pianoforte manufacturing.
Though Clementi wrote some 20 symphonies and other works--including the famous keyboard exercises known as Gradus ad Parnassum--he is best known in the concert hall for his more than 60 piano sonatas. This edition includes all 12 of the splendid miniature sonatas--so-called sonatinas--that comprise Clementi's Opp. 36, 37, and 38. Musicians and music lovers will find in this authoritative edition a rich selection of music by an innovative and influential composer. Dover (2001) unabridged republication of an authoritative early edition. 96pp 9×12. Paperbound. 目录:
