Little Reina has never seen the ocean.She's never played in the waves.So when her uncle Benito decides to take all the cousins to Iguana Beach for the day,Reina begs to go along.

Kristine Franklin,learned to speak fluent Spanish while living in Costa Rica and Guatemala with her husband and children. Her memories of Central America inspired her to write Iguana Beach, which is based on a real beach (and real iguanas!) that she and her family regularly visited.
Since winning the Highlights for Children Fiction Award in 1989, she has published many ighly praised children's books and earned a Parents' Choice Award and a Booklist Editors' Choice for her young-adult novel Eclipse.
Ms. Franklin lives with her family and a goldfish named Bubba in northern Minnesota.
