内容提要：
本书是彼得·纽马克教授的一部力作，1988年获英国应用语言学协会奖，可作为翻译教材和学习手册，供本科及研究生学习使用。

作者简介：
彼得·纽马克，曾任英国中伦敦理工学院语言学院院长。自1977年始，任语言学院委员会主席。他在各地巡回讲学，并在多家学术刊物，如Incorpated Linguist，Babel,Fremdsprachen等上发表过论文；翻译过关瑞士画家克勒、德国画家丢勒的书籍，并有著作论述法国的翻译批评。
