片断： Partl GeneralDescriptionofChinese AuricularTherapy 1.CharacteristicsofChineseAuricular Therapy Firstly,theclinicalapplicationoftraditionalChinese auriculartherapyischaracterizedbythetheoriesof TraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM),mainlythediffer- entiationofsyndromesaccordingtoZang-fuorgans andchannel-collaterals,andbydueregardtomodern physio-pathologicalknowledge.Inotherwords,the Chineseperspectiveoftheearislessneurophysiological thananyothersystem. Secondly,thistherapyshowsitssuperiorityandcon- venienceindiagnosis,whichasweknow,iscrucialto theentiretreatment.Itisgenerallyagreedthatonlya fewskilleddiagnosticiansofTraditionalChineseMedi- cinemaydiscernthepatient'spatternofdisharmonyin termsofeightprinciples(Yin-Yang,external-internal, cold-heat,Xu-shi),afterfeelingthepatient'spulse,wher- ebythediagnosticiancanestablishacorrectapproach oftreatment.Nevertheless,itseemsimpossible fotthe.maprityofordinarydoctors(withlesstraining inpulsefeeling)tomasterthetechniques;inthese circumstances,diagnosismadebydetectingtheauricu- laracu-pointscanserveasanalternative.Variouskinds ofdiseases,post-operativesyndromes,andevensome healedwoundsmaybeaccuratelydiagnosedbyobser- vationand/ordetectionovertheauricle. Thethirdcharacteristiciswideapplicationandquick therapeuticeffectsresultingfromitsfunctionsofreliev- ingpain,clearingupinfection,loweringbodytempera- ture,stoppingitches,desensitization,etc.Thisisprecise- lytheactionofTCM:acupunctureisabletodredgethe afflictedchannelsandcollaterals,reconciletheblood andQi,andpromotethefunctionsofZang-fuorgans. StatisticalanalysisfrommanyChinesehospitalsindi- catesthatitcantreatmorethan200kindsofboth functionalandorganicdiseasesandailments,40percent ofwhichcanbeeffectivelycuredatanaverageeffective rateof90percent.
