语言学简史

本书共九章，第一章为全书的导论，介绍了语言学史这门学科的对象、范围和研究现状；第二章至第九章分段讲述语言学由古及今的发展史。本书是以欧洲传统为纲写成的，重在叙述西方语言学史，并强调这样做“绝在叙述西方语言学的优越性”要了解西方语言学史的概貌，靠本书大抵够了，但要想了解中国语言学史，只读本书是远远不够的，西方语言学和中国语言学是两种不一样的传统，二者的历又是两个不同的研究领域，对此本书又作了一个交代。
