That afternoon，Queequeg and I made OUr
way to the Pequod．Captain Peleg was not happy when he saw Queequeg．
“You didn’t tell me he was a cannibal!”he shouted at me．“I don’t allow cannibals on my ship．Only Christians are allowed to sail with me．Can he prove that he’s a Christian now?”
“He doesn’t have any papers，”I told Peleg．“But I can promise you that he’s a fine man He’s also a member of the Church of the World．He believes in God just like we do．”
“Maybe he does，”said Peleg，“but I’m not sure．How do I know he’s as good of a har-pooner as you say?”

Queequeg carefully aimed his harpoon at the tar．Quickly he shot it into the center of the speck．
