HESKETH PEARSON, Born in Haworth, England, in 1887, HESKETH PEARSON turned to writing biographies after a career on the stage. Beginning in 1930 with a life of Erasmus Darwin, Pearson went on the write over twenty biographies; his subjects included Shakespeare. Hazlitt, Wilde, Shaw, Dickens, Conan Doyle, Sydney Smith, Widely regarded as the most readable and entertaining biographer of his era, he died in 1964.
