    玛丽·雪莱是英国女作家，英国十九世纪上半期浪漫主义派的著名诗人波西·比希·雪莱的第二个妻子。她生于英国伦敦，原名玛丽·戈德温，是英国哲学家、小说家威廉·戈德温的女儿。她于1814年随同雪莱去欧洲大陆，1816年两人结婚。雪莱夫妇常与英国著名诗人拜伦和散文家、诗人利·亨特交往。《弗兰肯斯坦》一书据说就是按拜伦的建议而写的。此书于1818年完成，是英国文学史上最早的科幻小说之一。这部小说出版后，受到各国评论家的重视。玛丽·雪莱的其他作品有：The Last Man，Lodore，Folker等。玛丽于雪莱死后第二年回到英国。她为编辑雪莱诗集、书信集、散文和其他作品集作出了很大的贡献。
