It consists of 13 chapters, which cover the 13 major geological systems. Each chapter addresses: 1. Tectonic sedimentary domains; 2. Current biostratigraphic scheme; 3. Series boundaries; 4. Faunal and/or floral succession, evolutionary trends and bioevents; 5. Correlation of the standard columns in China with other part of the world; 6. Facies patterns; 7. Palaeo-biogeography and palaeogeography; 8. Discussion of other significant topics; and 9. References. Because the text is in English, it will generate tremendous interest from and influence upon the earth sciences community around the world.
